        http://jcs.org/laptops/#oqo has successful report running X11 on
        OQO model 01 (siliconmotion chip).  it nolonger works with the
        X11 from 3.8 tarball.  the author of the webpage used code from
        somewhere 3.7 to 3.8.
>How-To-Repeat:
        start X server on OQO model 01, with the following configuration.
        presence/absense of "noaccel" line does not matter.
        (it's weird to see a call to smi_accel.c with "noaccel" option...)

 Can you try with a more recent X snaphot ? There was a patch from jcs
 integrated in X.Org 6.9.0.
 
 If it still doesn't work, this should probably be reported to X.Org's
 bugzilla's too. (http://bugzilla.freedesktop.org, product 'xorg').

        it seems that other people have the same problem (bugzilla has multiple
        siliconmotion entries).  i'm not a VGA controller guru, so i'm hoping
        an angel or two comes and fix this problem...

        I've tried X11 from openbsd 3.6, 3.7 and 3.8.  they all fail in the
        same way.  i wonder how jcs@ managed to make it work as described
        in http://jcs.org/laptops/.
