u-boot loader edgerouter

Holger Glaess
hi

the edgerouter becomes an new version of his u-boot bootloader due
software update or , maybe , or as new delivery.

this version break the boot proccess after

fatload usb 0 $(loadaddr) bsd;

then he load from the mmc boot partition an file called vmlinux.64.md5
withe the md5 checksum of the bsd kernel, i think.

after load he break with checksum failed .

you can move forward with the rest of your bootcmd

bootoctlinux rootdev=sd0 nucores=4 for example.

then he boot openbsd.

can someone help to fix the box that he boot complete until login prompt
after power on ?

Re: u-boot loader edgerouter

Hi

Did the test on my ERLs also: I upgraded to ubnts rel 1.10.7 and
installed new firmware image via CLI.
USB Stick Rebooted for installing OpenBSD snapshot in uboot:
---
reset
usb reset
fatload usb 0 $loadaddr bsd.rd
bootoctlinux rootdev=sd0 numcores=2
--

Installing octeon current snapshot of 7th October on USB stick went
through, everything . After installing OpenBSD I rebooted manually
(works):
---
usb reset
fatload usb 0 $loadaddr bsd
bootoctlinux rootdev=sd0 numcores=2
---

What will not work currently with this ERL is to save the env and new
firmware pops an allocation error (equally if ubnt vyatta or OpenBSD):

Re: u-boot loader edgerouter

Oliver Marugg
I didnt update the boot loader with 1.10.6. I upgraded to ubnt 1.10.7
and then upgraded the bootloader to experiment what will happen with the
bootloader and further installing OpenBSD. OpenBSD works fine, as I
mentioned reboot isnt possible due to uboot.

Currently I would not recommend upgrading uboot to newer version.
