        Sometime between 3.8 and 3.9-REL the variable mac address (lladdr)
        option for my Lucent Orinoco Silvers stopped working (HERMES chipset).
        I would like this feature since my open wifi AP has its routers
        constantly changing addresses and I'd like to do the same for MAC
        addresses as well.
        changing lladdr on the wi interface ceases its operation on the LAN.

(from dmesg)
wi0 at pci2 dev 6 function 0 "Eumitcom WL11000P" rev 0x02: irq 3
wi0: "Lucent Technologies, WaveLAN/IEEE, Version 01.01"
wi0: Firmware 6.06 variant 1, address 00:02:2d:09:4b:44

(from ifconfig)
        lladdr 00:cd:28:ef:e9:5e
        media: IEEE802.11 autoselect (DS2)
        status: active
        ieee80211: nwid PRIVATE chan 9 -12dBm (auto)
        inet6 fe80::202:2dff:fe09:4b44%wi0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2
        inet netmask 0xff000000 broadcast

        This is over my head.
