installer / boot stops at mpii LSI SAS 9207-4i4e

Daniel Pocock

I had another go today, using the latest snapshot:

sha256sum install68.iso
c8f2f053f4647acb719704eb7a3416b76ec41a0fec4983bafe23a224f21521ea

Last message in the console:

mpii0 at pci3 dev 0 function 0 "Symbios Logic SAS2308" rev 0x05: msi

I left it sitting there for 30 minutes to see if anything else appeared
on the console but it didn't.

I tried removing the HBA from the slot, then it can boot all the way to
the first question:

Welcome to the OpenBSD/powerpc64 6.8 installation program.
(I)nstall, (U)pgrade, (A)utoinstall or (S)hell?

The petitboot code had some patch for a crash in mpt3sas, I don't know
if that is related to the mpii code:
https://wiki.raptorcs.com/wiki/Talos_II/Firmware/Public_Beta#Changelog

Do you have any machine like this yourself or could it be useful to have
remote access to one of them via the BMC?  Snapshots can be accessed
over TFTP.

Will the installer allow me to install to a USB external drive?  I could
use that to test further stages of the installation without the HBA.

I captured all the output from the successful boot (without HBA) in case
it is useful

Full output from failed boot:

I tried this again setting '-d' as an argument in petitboot.

It just gives the same output, is there any way I can share verbose or
debug output for this issue with mpii?
