X windows FAIL

i set
cat /etc/rc.conf
xdm_flags=              # on some architectures, you must also

but X windows does not come .

i think that ' disable console getty in /etc/ttys ' may be needed .

anyway how to start x windows ?

AFAIK you can't run xdm on BeagleBone Black or any other OpenBSD/armv7
platforms because we don't support video controller.

arch linux can run X windows .

Someone would have to do the work.   The linux folk seem to like using
little arm boxes as TV boxes. To this end, they put up with the sometimes
proprietary and sometimes quirky stuff that passes for framebuffers on
various arm boxes.  Openbsd isn't really widely used for TV boxes, and so the
sorts of things that you need for TV boxes (like framebuffer support on arm)
tend not to be as high a priority for OpenBSD developers than other things.

Note though that X is a distributed window system where the X server and
X clients don't need to run on the same machine. There's no intrinsic
reason an armv7 box running openbsd can't run X clients displaying over
the network to another system.

If you really want X on OpenBSD on an inexpensive box, consider some of
the lower-cost lower-power x86 hardware options.

hi all .

i expirienced a interesting phenomenon.

banana pi which was running armbian abruptly cannot show nothing on TV .

but i ssh into banana pi(A) from another PC(B) , and x11vnc on the
terminal .

and then
i run tigervnc of B , then xfce of A apear on B's monitor .

this is very impressive.
is this phenomenon applicable to arm of openbsd ?

using miniroot-am335x-60.fs (2nd october) & ports(snapshot's one) ,
x11vnc can be compiled but about to days is needed .

$ pkg_info | grep
x11vnc
x11vnc-0.9.13p4     VNC server for real X displays

if there is virtual X driver , then virtual x windows comes up .
then
vnc client had have  xwindows ,

this is delusion .

I wouldn't waste your time trying to get an X server of some sort running
on ARM right now.  Simple X clients (displaying over the network to other
computers) should be OK though.

I don't think you should be looking at OpenBSD on ARM as a sort of mini
TV box (Raspian on a Raspberry Pi) that you sit in front of, like some
sort of simplified PC.  If you want that, you know where to find it.
Think little embedded computers accessible over the network instead.
Ignore the HDMI/video ports for now.
