USB panic

Edd Barrett
Hey,

I have been having issues with a userland program hard resetting my machine.

I *think* but cannot be sure it is the USB compact flash reader causing the
issue:

umass0 at uhub3 port 2 configuration 1 interface 0 "SCM Microsystems Inc.
eUSB Multi-Slot Reader" rev 1.10/5.15 addr 4
umass0: using SCSI over Bulk-Only
scsibus4 at umass0: 2 targets, initiator 0

I am using this to image a CF under fs-uae to insert into a real amiga. I
have done this before in the past without issue. It basically involves
pointing the emulator at /dev/rsd1c.

About 1/5 times when I start fs-uae, I get a hard reset of my machine.

I notice the following in dmesg log from the last boot where it crashed:

uvm_fault(0xffffffff818dc840, 0xffff800000000421, 0, 1) -> e
kernel: page fault trap, code=0

panic: tsleep: not SONPROC
panic: tsleep: not SONPROC
panic: tsleep: not SONPROC
panic: tsleep: not SONPROC

...

I am not given a chance to interact with ddb.

I believe the CF reader to work OK (but it is quite old, maybe it is
dying?).

I will try to source another CF reader to see if the problem goes away.

Dmesg below. (Not sure what happened to em0)

Difficult to believe that's an hardware problem.

And nothing before that?

This correspond to a chunk of DMA memory in the freelist, looks like
you're losing a race against your HC and freeing this chunk too soon.

Re: USB panic

Edd Barrett
Ah, just before that we have:

...
softraid0 at root
scsibus3 at softraid0: 256 targets
root on sd0a (a81068940d057f4c.a) swap on sd0b dump on sd0b
WARNING: / was not properly unmounted
ehci_idone: ex=0xffffff041d0aaaf0 is done!
umass0 at uhub3 port 2 configuration 1 interface 0 "Shuttle Technology
product 0x0325" rev 1.10/5.15 addr 4
umass0: using SCSI over Bulk-Only
scsibus4 at umass0: 2 targets, initiator 0
uvm_fault(0xffffffff818dc840, 0xffff800000000421, 0, 1) -> e
...

You know the rest.

The ehci_idone part is relevant?
