In an old ECS desknote with and Sis 630 video chipset
a segmentation fault occurs during X startup OpenBSD 5.3 release ran fine. It is an old laptop and Sis has not made video cards for years so this is a low priority. I am willing to test since the hardware is getting scarce. If there is not much interest, a comment to that effect would be helpful. dmesg: OpenBSD 5.3-current (GENERIC) #4: Sun Jun 16 09:12:12 MDT 2013 [hidden email]:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC cpu0: VIA Samuel 2 ("CentaurHauls" 686-class) 732 MHz cpu0: FPU,DE,TSC,MSR,MTRR,PGE,MMX,3DNOW real mem = 469233664 (447MB) avail mem = 450113536 (429MB) mainbus0 at root bios0 at mainbus0: AT/286+ BIOS, date 11/27/02, BIOS32 rev. 0 @ 0xfdaf0, SMBIOS rev. 2.3 @ 0xf0630 (26 entries) bios0: vendor American Megatrends Inc. version "062710" date 07/15/97 bios0: Elitegroup Co. i-Buddie acpi0 at bios0: rev 0 acpi0: sleep states S0 S3 S4 S5 acpi0: tables DSDT FACP acpi0: wakeup devices LAN_(S3) MDM_(S4) AUD_(S4) PWRB(S5) acpitimer0 at acpi0: 3579545 Hz, 24 bits acpiprt0 at acpi0: bus 0 (PCI0) acpiec0 at acpi0 acpicpu0 at acpi0: C2 acpipwrres0 at acpi0: URP1 acpipwrres1 at acpi0: URP2 acpipwrres2 at acpi0: FDDP acpipwrres3 at acpi0: LPTP acpiac0 at acpi0: AC unit online acpibtn0 at acpi0: LIDD acpibtn1 at acpi0: PWRB bios0: ROM list: 0xc0000/0x10000 cpu0 at mainbus0: (uniprocessor) pci0 at mainbus0 bus 0: configuration mode 1 (bios) pchb0 at pci0 dev 0 function 0 "SiS 630 PCI" rev 0x31 sisagp0 at pchb0 agp0 at sisagp0: aperture at 0xe0000000, size 0x2000000 pciide0 at pci0 dev 0 function 1 "SiS 5513 EIDE" rev 0xd0: 630S: DMA, channel 0 wired to compatibility, channel 1 wired to compatibility wd0 at pciide0 channel 0 drive 0: <WDC WD800BEVE-00UYT0> wd0: 16-sector PIO, LBA48, 76319MB, 156301488 sectors wd0(pciide0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, Ultra-DMA mode 2 atapiscsi0 at pciide0 channel 1 drive 0 scsibus0 at atapiscsi0: 2 targets cd0 at scsibus0 targ 0 lun 0: <MATSHITA, DVD-ROM SR-8176, M136> ATAPI 5/cdrom removable cd0(pciide0:1:0): using PIO mode 4, Ultra-DMA mode 2 pcib0 at pci0 dev 1 function 0 "SiS 85C503 System" rev 0x00 ohci0 at pci0 dev 1 function 2 "SiS 5597/5598 USB" rev 0x07: irq 11, version 1.0, legacy support ohci1 at pci0 dev 1 function 3 "SiS 5597/5598 USB" rev 0x07: irq 11, version 1.0, legacy support autri0 at pci0 dev 1 function 4 "SiS 7018 Audio" rev 0x02: irq 10 ac97: codec id 0x414c4710 (Avance Logic ALC200) ac97: codec features headphone, 18 bit DAC, 18 bit ADC, Realtek 3D audio0 at autri0 midi0 at autri0: <4DWAVE MIDI UART> ppb0 at pci0 dev 2 function 0 "SiS 86C201 AGP" rev 0x00 pci1 at ppb0 bus 1 vga1 at pci1 dev 0 function 0 "SiS 6300" rev 0x31 wsdisplay0 at vga1 mux 1: console (80x25, vt100 emulation) wsdisplay0: screen 1-5 added (80x25, vt100 emulation) rl0 at pci0 dev 5 function 0 "Realtek 8139" rev 0x10: irq 5, address 00:07:95:a5:c9:2f rlphy0 at rl0 phy 0: RTL internal PHY isa0 at pcib0 isadma0 at isa0 com0 at isa0 port 0x3f8/8 irq 4: ns16550a, 16 byte fifo pckbc0 at isa0 port 0x60/5 pckbd0 at pckbc0 (kbd slot) pckbc0: using irq 1 for kbd slot wskbd0 at pckbd0: console keyboard, using wsdisplay0 pms0 at pckbc0 (aux slot) pckbc0: using irq 12 for aux slot wsmouse0 at pms0 mux 0 pms0: Synaptics touchpad, firmware 5.0 pcppi0 at isa0 port 0x61 spkr0 at pcppi0 lpt0 at isa0 port 0x378/4 irq 7 npx0 at isa0 port 0xf0/16: reported by CPUID; using exception 16 usb0 at ohci0: USB revision 1.0 uhub0 at usb0 "SiS OHCI root hub" rev 1.00/1.00 addr 1 usb1 at ohci1: USB revision 1.0 uhub1 at usb1 "SiS OHCI root hub" rev 1.00/1.00 addr 1 mtrr: Pentium Pro MTRR support rum0 at uhub1 port 2 "Ralink Technology RT2573" rev 2.00/0.01 addr 2 rum0: MAC/BBP RT2573 (rev 0x2573a), RF RT2528, address 00:21:27:ca:40:05 vscsi0 at root scsibus1 at vscsi0: 256 targets softraid0 at root scsibus2 at softraid0: 256 targets root on wd0a (4d1da3236cf87a2c.a) swap on wd0b dump on wd0b umass0 at uhub0 port 1 configuration 1 interface 0 "USB DISK 2.0" rev 2.00/12.19 addr 2 umass0: using SCSI over Bulk-Only scsibus3 at umass0: 2 targets, initiator 0 sd0 at scsibus3 targ 1 lun 0: <USB, DISK 2.0, 1219> SCSI0 0/direct removable serial.090c1000R75JEPN4EPUW sd0: 956MB, 512 bytes/sector, 1957888 sectors Xorg.0.log: [ 178.666] (--) checkDevMem: using aperture driver /dev/xf86 [ 178.707] (--) Using wscons driver on /dev/ttyC4 in pcvt compatibility mode (version 3.32) [ 178.786] X.Org X Server 1.14.1 Release Date: 2013-04-17 [ 178.787] X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0 [ 178.787] Build Operating System: OpenBSD 5.3 i386 [ 178.788] Current Operating System: OpenBSD Vole.home.yak 5.3 GENERIC#4 i386 [ 178.789] Build Date: 12 June 2013 12:27:06AM [ 178.790] [ 178.790] Current version of pixman: 0.30.0 [ 178.790] Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.x.org to make sure that you have the latest version. This is a know problem, and the X.Org people are aware of this: http://lists.x.org/archives/xorg-devel/2013-May/036138.html As soon as this effort produces a working driver again, we'll merge it in OpenBSD. In the mean time, if you could follow the instructions in /usr/xenocara/README to build xserver and driver/xf86-video-sis with debugging symbols (-g) and run X under gdb from a second machine to get a backtrace when the server crashes, it will help a bit. -- Matthieu Herrb |
