Possible bug report for OBSD 6.3 and HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9

Albert Martinez
Dear OpenBSD Team,

first of all, thanks for your time and effort in the OBSD project, we use it daily with around 10 clusters (all with similar HW and 6.3), some handle near one million simultaneous sessions without any issue, so thanks for doing that possible!

We just have one cluster with issues..its the one with more complexity (140 interfaces, pf, authpf, squid, mailrelay, dhcp relay, etc etc...)

This cluster started with an OBSD5.1 and we issued upgrades till 5.8 without troubles, starting from 5.9 we had always the same issue. Now we have the production box with 5.8 running a pf.conf without issues on a  HP DL360G7, and we try to upgrade the slave cluster member without success.. we thought that changing the hardware would help but it didn't.. so now we have an OBSD cluster with a fresh 6.3 install (not upgraded from 6.2) and after trying to load (pfctl -f /etc/pf.conf ) our pf.conf from 5.8 rules (pfctl -nf /etc/pf.conf works fine) we get a Kernel Panic using a new HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9..

The Burg trigger sequence its:

  1.  Fresh install from OBSD 6.3  in a new HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9
  2.  Configure the /etc/hostfiles*, the pf.conf, ssh etc
  3.  reboot
  4.  Dry run pfctl -nf /etc/pf.conf works fine
  5.  pfctl -f /etc/pf.conf
  6.  SSH session hangs
  7.  OOB/HP ILO remote console
  8.  login
  9.  issue ifconfigs and we get the kernel panic:

Find attached the info requested in https://www.openbsd.org/ddb.html (it may be a bit unsorted but I think its all there) to report you a possible bug (kernel_panic_traces_20180528.txt).

Take a look, maybe you find something that may help us.

We can even perform a live session if you need it, the issue can be easily triggered.

Thanks for your support and regards from AS5404 in Austria :) !
