Openbsd 6.2 will not load on hardware that runs 6.1

If I either upgrade or do a fresh install of 6.2 all appears to be going
fine until the 'reboot' stage.  The bootloader starts and then spools
the usual list of info to the screen.  After about a page and a half,
the screen blanks and the system will respond to nothing.

The only way to recover is with a hardware reset or power-down.  At next
power-up, the motherboard has a dual-bios facility that then resets to
its safe-bios version.   I can then 'upgrade' back to 6.1 or do a fresh
install.

All installs are i386 from USB using install.fs with SHA256 checked.

I have been using OpenBSD since version 3.2.  Occasionally I have come
across incompatible hardware though the next version usually fixes it.
This is the first time that a new version fails where an old verion is good.

I think this problem is not something I can fix without help but I would
appreciate some ideas.  Should I just continue using 6.1 and hope it
gets fixed in 6.3?

Barnaby.

Can you try booting a snapshot kernel?

(For ease of testing you can download the kernel to / under a different
name and "boot <kernelname>" at the boot loader prompt. Not much point
doing a normal upgrade and updating userland unless that gets further
than the 6.2 kernel).

Barnaby replied off list with more information - hang in 6.2/snap occurs at the
point where inteldrm switches mode - boots OK with inteldrm disabled, dmesg like
that below.

Stuart,

Many thanks again.

I have no problem with you posting to the buglist.  At least if you do it, I
will not fall foul of any protocols!

By changing a couple of file names, I have organised such that my (essentially
6.1) system will boot to bsd.mp from the released 6.2.

With inteldrm disabled, the boot completes, there is no change of font during
the start process and I can login on the network with ssh, allowing me to
generate and capture dmesg output.

The dmesg listing is...
