I have installed OpenBSD on my USB flash memstick and when I inserted to my
PC USB port its X loaded without any errors.
But when I'm going to reboot my notebook (DELL E6410) by my USB memstick
its X did not load and the file /var/log/Xorg.0.log contain these below log:

If you're not using USB 3.0, the performance might be quite poor but I'm
sure you already know that.

Did you check that ?

I guess that you don't have the same parameters in /etc/sysctl.conf on
your USB stick and on your machine's harddisk…

I  set 'machdep.allowaperture=1'

screen!
Then, I can only power down by holdin power key!
How can I resolve this?

Re: Not Loading any X

Mohammad BadieZadegan
I changed machdep.allowaperture to 2 after 1 and my blank screen did not
seen.
BTW, I connect other monitor to my notebook VGA port and see that the XDM
was loaded truely!
But now how can I get the XDM login screen on my notebook LCD (Not on VGA
port)?

I configured xorg.conf.new and then copy it to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
(With 2 new insert, *DefaultDepth 24 *and *Modes "1280x1024"*)
But still :
*(EE) NV(0): No valid initial configuration found*
How Resolve that?

1. Disable xdm and use xinit or startx.

2. Unplug the external monitor.

3. Delete the xorg.conf file - like I've mentioned before, you'll
probably won't get anything beyond VESA/SVGA (800x600).

4. machdep.allowaperture has four possible settings - 0-3. Have you
tried them all?

5. Send your dmesg, please.

That's OK - we have all been newbies once.

I'm afraid this is where I have to draw the line - I'm more than happy
to help with "real" issues, but I'm not willing to provide free support.

Please do your homework first[0] and learn the basics!
This is not meant as a discouragement - quite the opposite. I'm doing
you a favour - trust me :^)

OpenBSD has one of the best I've seen, and up-to-date,
documentation[1][2] out there! Use it!

Yes, Ofcourse reading FAQ pages will resolve most of Issues But I tried
more than ten times to review X11 FAQ pages and it was not clearly step by
step installing guidence.
Why OpenBSD did not collect these FAQ pages into one PDF under OpenBSD
Handbook(such as http://www.openbsd.org/faq/obsd-faq.txt) with release date?
Regards.

Re: Not Loading any X

Mohammad BadieZadegan
Hi again,
I have re-installed OpenBSD without xdm installing at first installing boot.
Then I downloaded "
http://firmware.openbsd.org/firmware/5.7/radeondrm-firmware-20131002p0.tgz"
and extracted it to /etc/firmware.
Then run fw_update -a and I saw my new firmwares have installed correctly.
At now I installed vifm and see that vifm mesasge me:
"Vifm requires a console that can support color." and exit!
BTW: I have not resolved the last issue about X and maybe this new issue
relay to my last Xorg issue.
How can I (at least) install the vifm and then Xorg?
Can any one installing OpenBSD on the notebook?!

So what happens when you type startx?

Where is your dmesg?

These questions should be on misc@

This is my first EE at Xorg.0.log:

Where can I find the initial configuration steps at FAQ page (1-15)?

dmesg would tell us what video device you have in your machine.

There is not enough information here to help you to solve your problem.

man 4 nv might help you.
