>Description:

Firefox crashes X server randomly (I encountered 5 times this week).
So, it might be a long story, please bear with me.

When system crashes, the screen freezes and both keyboard and mouse take
no response from X (i.e. Ctrl-Alt-Fn, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace, etc, have no effect;
mouse cursor cannot be moved ...). Hmm, That's the problem, I lost the
control of my machine.

Fortunately, I had another machine and tried to log into the freezed
machine via ssh, and succeeded:

Following info from the freezed machine:

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
         at http://wiki.X.Org
 for help.
Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional information.

Also I noticed there were new messages in dmesg:

==========================================
$ dmesg
[snip]
 ...
[/snip]
agp_release_helper: mem 0 is bound
agp_release_helper: mem 1 is bound
agp_release_helper: mem 2 is bound

Finally, the interesting stuff comes. After I rebooted the machine using
"sudo reboot", the problem was still there with similar errors:

==========================================
$ startx
$ cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log
[snip]
...
[/snip]

After a complete 'sudo shutdown -hp now' and re-power the machine, the
system back to normal and startx works fine.

At first, I suppose that was a hardware problem. But it seems that only
firefox can triger this problem (I've tested gimp, mplayer... all works
well). Since I switched to use the Mozilla navigator instead of Firefox,
I haven't encountered this issue in 3 days either. I've heard that
firefox is memory consuming, and that's the reason to crash X? or may be
there're some problems with my SDRAM? I've no idea. I'll keep watching
this problem.

I'm not on misc@, please CC me if you comment. Thanks.

>How-To-Repeat:
Using mozilla-firefox-2.0.0.3 package shipped with OpenBSD to surf the
Internet.

>Fix:
No idea, maybe try to use another web browser, like mozilla navigator.
